old roadworks oil warning lamp



These were often seen in NZ attached to a temporary barrier around street works areas. Imported from the 'mother country', they had a panel on one side which opened and the inside oil (paraffin?) container slid out; this had a wick which went from the sump to the flame burner.

Were they also used on the railways in the UK?
